If you intend to performance tune a Subaru, at some point it should include remapping. As the mass air flow sensor has such a major bearing on the input/output ratio, I wouldn't even consider fitting an induction kit without planning a remap. A panel filter is fine, but a whole airbox replacement can be a big deal.

Hello Alan,
In your opinion then if i just fit a K&N or Green Cotton filter, nothing else,i wouldn't need a remap?

I wouldn't go near an induction kit unless I was running over 400BHP - they tend to draw hot air into the engine, unless very carefully fitted or fitted inside the wing.
I ran a K & N panel and TSL grp N back box for about a year with no remap with no problems and I did appear to gain performance but that could have been the placebo effect as it sounded much better!
