93 classic wrx import limiting at 4300 ???

Default 93 classic wrx import limiting at 4300 ???

im new to the scooby scene as ive only had my 1st 1 2 weeks now so not very up to date on these

basically the car broke down 4 days ago wouldnt start was told it was the coils and ignition module so changed the coils for new 1s put new plugs in and the car started but only on 2cyl.

replaced the module with a 2nd hand 1 and still 2 cyl replaced the coils with my old 1s and it run fine i thn replaced the exhuast from the cat bk with a jap style 1.

drove the car fine for 30 miles went to pull away in 3rd got to 3400 and it started poping and shakin .
tried reving it whist standin and its like havin launch control starts limiting at 3400 everytime in every gear if any1 has any ideas would be more than greatfull as i realy dont no anything about these cars yet

its the ecus panic mode if it detects any problem it automatically restricts you to around that range mate is it misfireing at all ???
best bet is to nip it in for diagnostics mate

no its driving fine other than when it gets to that rev range sent you a pm chap

Hi i would try checking the fault codes, this may show any faults.

This guy is really good. There is also help to reset the ecu.

i guess the CEL is on (rhs of the instrument cluster) if so on the classic imprezas you can manually check for error codes (Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Scoobypedia / Scoobypedia under ECU)

the chl has no bulb in previous owner took it out but i did put a bulb in and the light was on 247 this was prior to all this but think ill replace it and check the code thanks

previous owner then ,imo, was a **** the whole point of the CEL is to tell you something is wrong removing the fecking bulb is stupid ( not having a go at you obviously but there are some idiots about)

Read the code when you can ,finding the connectors can be an **** if they haven't been used before,post the code up and i'm sure people can advise you on a solution.

put a bulb in and the black connectors where already connected (probs y he took the bulb out as the light wouldnt go out ) lol and it reads 3 long and 3 short so take that as 33 and checked the code and its 33 Vehicle speed sensor 2 any1 ???
