Default New Up pipe advice

Hey all,

Going to fit a new up-pipe on my 03 WRX, are these any good??

IMPREZA TURBO UP PIPE EXHAUST SCORPION NEW AGE SHAPE on eBay (end time 20-Aug-09 15:45:01 BST)

or

Subaru (New shape) decat Turbo Up Pipe on eBay (end time 17-Aug-09 09:44:52 BST)

Are they a B*tch to fit?

I have been told that when the cat on the up-pipe degrades it can suck the bits of the cat back into the engine = engine rebuild time ?

Cheers All

the first one is better as it is slip jointed, the flexible joint in the second one is a weak point, cheaper option is to pick up a used classic or newage sti pipe. it can be a bit difficult to fit dependant upon how good you are with car repairs and how difficult the bolts are to remove. Also ensure you get a Lambda socket so you can remove it without damage as they are expensive if you damage them, also a resister will be needed to disable the egt sensor, or if going for a map the cel will be disabled anyway.

Try and find a 2nd hand STI part.

1. is too expensive.
2. is likely to fail, don't buy it.

IMHO

P.S. They can also get partially blocked, strangling the engine.
