are all ej205 engines the same?

basically can i buy any ej205 engine to replace the dead one from my re-mapped 1999 uk turbo

The "pat" in question in that thread is none other than mapper extraordinaire Mr Pat Herborn.

He's one of the most clued up specialists when it comes to Subaru hardware/the company's history, etc...

LOL, don't hold me responsible!

No, if your VIN plate's engine code is "EJ205..." then you'll be fine (which it defo will be for a 1999 UK Turbo 2000 AWD).

As said in that thread, the "EJ205..." is the NON-STi spec motor - i.e. WRX-grade internals/heads, etc. - for the JDM and RoW MY99/00 turbos.

The "EJ207..." is the STi spec one.
