Default Clutch Question?

Ive had my clutch replaced (its a jdm hawkeye) because it was biting high up (not slipping), with an organic exedy 3 part clutch (genuine) its biting lower down now but not where I thought it would?

Also when idling with the clutch depressed its making a winey noise, when pressed the wine goes(think thats the right way round?)
would it be the release bearing? may be talking crap but sure ive heard this before?

My previous impreza was an 05 uk sti and when I had the clutch replaced it was almost instantly biting from the slightest movement of the clutch?

Is there any reason for this as its niggling me and just dont feel right

Hope someone can advise, thanks Luke

when the clutch is new, the biting point will be quite low, as long as it clears the gears its all good.. the more the clutch wears, the higher the biting point will get.. the clutch is a pull type, and the noise is the clutch.. (if the noise is there when you put your foot on the clutch that is)
and if the noise is the other way around, then this would be gearbox bearings.

hi luke, with hydraulic clutches the biting point is determined more by the thickness of the clutch plate and condition of the flywheel amongst other things! the fact your 05 was biting low sounds to me as though it had a nice thick clutch plate and quite a low bolt down on the diaphragm spring !

the fact that you only changed your clutch because it was biting high is why you can only feel a minimal change in the biting point and dosnt realy indicate any problems mate

the noise you are hearing is going to be determined by whether the noise occurs with the pedal up or down,if the noise is there all the time and goes when the pedal is down-then this would NORMALLY indicate a gearbox noise (was the noise there before the clutch replacement? , did you change the gearbox oil? )

if the car is quiet on idle and then you get a noise when the pedal is down-then this is usualy down to the clutch release bearing (did you change the bearing? )

i am sure some people will try and tell you i have that wrong as its a common mistake even technicians make luke but a can assure you 100% that i am correct and i have been a clutch and transmission specialist for 15years.

not sure on your location mate but if you can get the car to chelmsford i will be more than happy to take a look

right ive just checked it and its making a continual quiet whine without touching the clutch, when i press the clutch pedal fully it stops making the noise, it seems to whine at about the same point as the biting point?

just had a service the oil wasnt replaced just checked I believe, the cars serviced every 5k, the service b4 the last it was changed.

I dont recall the noise b4 it was replaced?
ive only had the car for bout 6 wks
