Panel filters and removal of cats
Evening all,
Two questions for you guys...
Firstly, I have an 02 bug WRX, and I currently have an Afterburner Vortex back box with the remainder of the system being stock. I want to free up some extra bhp, and get a more evil noise, and am considering purchasing the afterburner vortex de-cat mid-section. I think there are 3/4 cats throughout the system, so will this removal give me problems come MOT time??
Secondly, I am looking to source a really good panel filter to replace the stock item....one which genuinely aids performance (not just spurious claims!)...any ideas??
Cheers!

A panel filter won't really make you anything meaningful in the grand scheme of things. The car should pass the MOT with one CAT, there's one in the up-pipe, downpipe and section directly after downpipe.
Remove the mid section CAT and downpipe CAT(or get a sport CAT) + remap will see you 270-280 bhp and 300 lb/ft.

If you are looking to change the exhaust why not change the whole thing and buy a DP with a sports cat? TSL ThunderCat is good and then De-cat the center, this will free it up a bit more mate, might as well get the most for your mapping cost! (car will pass MOT with just this downpipe, mine did a few weeks ago)
Panel filter.... take ya choice, none of them do anything better than the others I don't think but the main choices appear to be K&N or Green panel filter.
