I'm assuming they were not fitted properly in the first place then? Or have the heads sheared off?

You could tap them and try sorting the existing threads or find larger sized bolts and tap size out for them. Or you could use helicoil. I'm sure there will be more ideas from others.

Have you tried to tap the existing threads? silly as this may sound i have recovered threads in these ally blocks before and if it doesn't work then you will more than likely have to go a size bigger. But it will be a pain as engine is in motor now.

Cool. A word of advice tap all the other threads to enure they are clean with the correct tap and replace all the other bolts for the oil pump with new. As you don't want this happening again.

M6 Helicoil or Timesert kit required - don't take chances with dodgy threads

it's a permenant repair and really simple to do while the engine's out.

Timesert is the best kit, but not cheap.

If the inserts are fitted correctly, you will have a stronger thread than was in the aluminium block to begin with

Fair play to you for remembering. I haven't had the chance to pop into the workshop so couldn't check. Sounds about right though.

Just so you are aware, the torque of the oil pump bolts is 4.7 Lbft (checked twice) not 11 Lbft
