the wr1 is not my car it has been written off! im buying the ecu off the guy who is breaking it, he seems to think that all i'll need is the ecu and the chip out of the key and it should be just a case of plug and play! but iv got a feeling they'll be sumthing else that i will need for it work?

An understatement - JGM has kindly made a shopping list for you to add to the ECU.

ive sorted it now thanks all, there is a chip reader (little black box) in the stearing colum that the transponder wire runs into, you need the ecu, chip and the chip reader and then away you go an have fun!

you seem to be missing the point.. yes you will then have an ignition that will power the ecu.. but you can't use the wr1 ecu with the wrx engine. they are very different..

Ask how much he wants for the engine as you will need one once you have run the wrx engine on the wr1 ecu and had fun as you put it.
