Default Oil temp sender leaking !

Fitted a set of Prosport gauges yesterday and found the oil temp sender that I fitted above cylinder 3 was leaking

Stripped it all back out today, used Loctite lock and seal, tightened the sender up as much as I dare and it still bloody leaks. It's only a little bit but it's definately leaking !

What's the best way of fitting the sender without it leaking ?

Which is it leaking from? The sender or from the adapter into the block?

The sender. It's a tapered thread. I've tried PTFE tape and with only 1 rap around the thread it will only screw into the adaptor maybe 2 threads before going tight !

I thought the Loctite seal would do it

Be very careful when tightening the sender, they shear off very easily!
As above, i used ptf tape, both on the sender and the adaptor.

I bought a 2nd hand Defi and it needed three wraps of PTFE to stop it leaking....

You can get different thicknesses of ptfe tape, maybe you have the thick stuff?

Maybe the hole in the adapter is damaged a bit.
Or the sender is tapered thread, and the adapter has a straight tapped hole.

Thread in adaptor seems ok. The sender does have a tapered thread.

I've been keeping an eye on it and it doesn't seem to be leaking now !

If it seems like it's leaking again i'm going to take it back out and try some PTFE tape again

It needs to screw in more than a couple of threads - even with PTFE tape. I had the same problem but eased the tapered thread on the adaptor by drilling and tapping a piece of steel (1/8 BSP?) and screwing the adaptor in and out a lot! This eased the thread and together with PTFE tape, did the job.
