is mine chipped or not can u tell
Hi i have a year 2000 classic wrx with NO cat and is running at 18 psi boost does anybody know if this has been remapped or what do i look for.

If it holds that boost pressure, then, as Tony says, something is not standard, as the boost target for your car should be 0.94 bar - or 13.6psi.
As he says, you can have the ECU looked at by someone who knows what they're doing. Before doing that though, and on the assumption you haven't had this car too long, have you checked around the turbo for the presence of a manual boost controller, or for a piggyback device of some sort spliced into the wiring around the ECU?

runs up to 18 psi and drops back to 16/17 psi and there are no wires near ecu i think from what i have picked up so far mine has to be remapped and cant see anything from what i know around the turbo it all looks standard apart from new silicon hoses from turbo and inlet was told when i bought it it was chipped but anybody could say this he said it was 300bhp but like i say i could sell u anything and could say it was 500bhp just like to know b4 i spend any money remapping it have been conned b4 from an old cossie when i knew it was chipped and asked to upgrade my power only 4 them to say 500 quid as its not chipped at all so want to avoid.Any good remappers anywhere.

Yep, passenger footwell. Handful of plastic clips to release the carpet then four 10mm bolts (well, 3 bolts 1 nut) to get the cover off. Make a note of the colour of the sticker, and all the scrawl on it.
Oh - and while you're there look for anything connected into the wiring loom that doesn't look "original".
Tony in this case is Mr Burns from post #2.

and then there is another black box to the right of the ecu cant see where wires go some do go into this new looking box though.
