You cannot run an external wastegate with an TD06 turbo or any other turbo with an internal wastegate. Well you can but it would be a lot of trouble for no benefit.
If you want the noise then get a VTA BOV.....however, the best dump valve you can get for your car was what it left the factory with.

I am actually trying to decide if i should upgrade my Turbo the a GT30 or to convert my TD06 20G to run an external wastegate.
The external wastegate sound is so much nicer than any BOV i have ever heard.
You would need to have the penny valve welded shut. (Simple method) or like i am considering, strip the turbo down, and a blank machined to fit where the penny valve use to be, and have this fitted and welded in.
On my business partners car we run a GT30 with a Tial wastegate, we had custom pipework made up to sit the wastegate up at the top beside the turbo rather than hide it away... looks lush. and fitted a screemer pipe. the pipework to fit the wastegate cost around £200 but the Tial wastegates are around £350
so if you are handy at removing your own turbo you could be looking at around £550 - £600 to complete.
but you can get cheap wastegates on ebay for £70
However a top quality BOV for around £150 would save you some pennies for other Mods.
