Maybe... but a s/h engine might let go a few months down the line and you're back to square one. If you're planning to keep the car I'd be inclined to rebuild instead.
There are plenty of independent specialists out there who will be only too happy to advise - Enginetuner, TSL, API, Scooby Clinic, Powerstation, Roger Clark, Zen... the list goes on.
I've just had my P1 done by API - still OK after about 1800 miles

Look on ebay. There are rebuilt engines on there for about £1200. saves extra money in labour for the rebuild.
I would def upgrade some parts though as while your there yo might as well do it.
Just put in my new forged 2.5 lump after my bug wrx let go. took me 6 months to pay for it though

I'd be very wary of getting a cheap "rebuilt" engine off Ebay. Take a look at https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...t-results.html amongst other threads before you take the plunge...

Be very carefull if/when buying used/re-conditioned engines, we see lots of customers who buy a re-con/used engines only for it to go bang a few miles down the road. We would always advise a build simply to future proof yourself against premature failure. Where ever you get it done try not to cut corners to save a few quid as it will only bite you in the a**e.
Have it built buy a reputable engine builder/specialist
Good luck anyway whatever you do
