Default Can someone recommend me a fault reader?

My engine light randonly pops on and the car judders. Its a classic shape MY01 X-reg Impreza Sport Wagon.

Know I found a bluetooth reader DealExtreme: $54.67 ELM327 Bluetooth OBD-II Wireless Transceiver Dongle

However will this fit the port on an Impreza?

From what I read this will only do the basics so are there better ones out there?

If it's like the turbo classics then it will have plugs under the dash that you can manually read the codes.

Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Scoobypedia / Scoobypedia under the ECU heading has a few pictures and a how to bit.

It will fit, but it only reads the basics, because thats down the the car itself. A MY01 will still be OBD, but not fully OBDII compliant, so it will fit and work to some degree.
Bu, as mentioned, the manual fault code reading does the job.

If they have never been used before, they will be taped up, so you may have to do some digging around

I find the PSi3 is great for faults code reading/reseting and lots more besides.

Bit more expensive though.

Last of the classics were MY00 cars, not MY01 cars, it goes by the model year, not the registration year as if you order something you have a very good chance of ending up with something that doesnt work

Yep, you can read current and historic faults and clear them.

They are there somewhere, they have been taped up against the steering column as above, can be a bit hard to find at first
