Be careful !! not mine, but a fellow project off my local forum ..........
The colour wasnt 100% what i was looking for so it was redone and came out with a few imperfections.
The shot blaster couldnt do anything with it as the layer of powder on it was now twice as thick as before so he asked the powder coater to "crack" the finish and make it easier for him to work with.
SO back to the oven where the powder was cured. Now the powder cures at 220 degrees C so he thought 300 wouldnt be too much of an issue.
So when he went back to retrieve the inlet manifold he thought one of his workers had been playinga practical joke on him and removed it from the oven.
He asked them to find it for him and one returned with a worried look on his face.
He then took him to the oven to show him exactly where the inlet manifold was. Swept away a bit of dus off the ground to expose what could best be described as a Nikelodeon splat hahah and this is the finished result
one melted impreza inlet manifold, could now be classed as a piece of modern art

Normal curing temps are 170C-190C at 12-20 mins

personally wouldnt bother with powerdercoat, having heard so many horror stories of shot been left in places, rocker covers been done on both sides + pieces dropping into the engine causing failures (not just subaru, i know of a guy with a 480bhp corsa turbo that learnt the hard way too)
just not worth the risk when you can paint it or have it polished, id be extremely wary of having it done now youve just had a nice 2.1 build too

Of course you have to clean it thoroughly, but if done properly it should be safe. And you should use glass blasting and not sand blasting when removing the old paint. And before painting, all openings, injector holes, vacuum hose connectors etc need to be masked.
I have no problems with my engine anyway but I did not rush things and spent some time cleaning the manifold.

i am assuming you obvioulsy have it off the car, so why not speak to rcm and simiar as i am sure they do them on an exchange basis think it was around £150 you send your old one and they supply you with one the have done that is on the shelf
