Default tyre sizes on 17s

hi all,im going to get some 17s to go on my classic!im not sure what tyre size to go for tho?will 225s fit or will i have to go with 215 40 or 215 45?the car is not lowerd at the min but will eventually have coilovers fitted!

just wondering what everyones experiances are!!

mine's on 215/40/17 but its not lowered.

for a classic it is deffo 215 but can be 40 or 45 profile on 17" imo the 45 is better as less road noise and more pot hole friendly

mine are the same as above 215/40 but i wish i had 45 profiel just to take some of the bump out of British roads and mine is nicely lowered

IIRC Strictly speaking correct size cited by Subaru is 205/45/17 or 215/40/17.

Howeve, most seem to go for 215/45/17 for the reasons stated above.

215/45/17 makes your speedo under read because of the rolling circumference of the wheel, hence why you should go either 215/40/17 or 205/45/17, these are the 2 only recommendations for a classic running 17 inch wheels.

agree about the speedo by about 2mph but for comfort/handling 215/45/17 IMO
