Default new engine fitted, will not start?

hi there,i have bought a 95 wrx from a mate that has had a replacement engine fitted, when i bought it the engine was in but needed plumbed in and some wiring plugged in,got it completed today but it just turns over and wont fire, the car is getting fuel as it stinks from the exhaust of unburnt fuel,i dont think its getting a spark.i know the engine was a good runner as we got the engine from a rear ended impreza wrx that ran spot on,(i checked the injector wiring with another wrx and is ok)any help would be great with this

crankshaft sensor sits just above the crankshaft on top of the block to the left of the alternator and cam shaft semsor sits passenger side by the top camshaft pulley.
