Default Rough costs on headgasket change..

How much roughly am I looking at for both headgaskets changed..?

My car has some odd symptoms at the moment, which could be headgasket or could just be the thermostat but I think I'd rather get the whole lot done just for piece of mind..

Is there anyone on here that can offer this kind of service?

Its a V2 Turbo 2000 Wagon, on an M plate. Its the slanted intercooler type.

Well its using water, but leaking it out of the bottom of the radiator and the thermostat housing.

Then when I start the car with the lid off of that metal tank by the inlet, its spraying water in there from a small black hose that looks like its coming from the radiator and I think its spraying from another hose which looks like it goes to the turbo..

Some people have said it is thermostat and some say head gasket.

I'm at a bit of a loss at the moment as to exactly what it is.. or what to do now..

I charge 650, but it can be around the 750-850 depending where you take it. I'm up near Chester so a bit far away for you.

Also just to add, it is kicking out white/grey smoke when the car is cold, on idle just looks normal, but when revved it kicks out not massive, but decent sized little clouds of it.

I guess this pretty much proves its the head gasket? As usually when you rev when cold the steam clears does it not?

Could you PM me with details, Chester isnt overly far, I'd be able to arrange bringing the car down.

Thankyou.

"Well its using water, but leaking it out of the bottom of the radiator and the thermostat housing."

have you check the rad for leaks? they crack on the end tanks.

"Then when I start the car with the lid off of that metal tank by the inlet, its spraying water in there from a small black hose that looks like its coming from the radiator and I think its spraying from another hose which looks like it goes to the turbo.."

water is supposed spray into there it means your pump is working.

"Some people have said it is thermostat and some say head gasket.

the white smoke does not sound good.
is the car over heating?

having suspected head gasket problems with mine also, car is chucking out water from overflow by the battery but only if i give the car a bit of stick if i drive normal off boost it never loses a drop, got no signs of either oil in water or water in oil but there is bubbles in small bottle by battery could this be thermostat or does this sound like h/g if yes whats best way to check if it is

damian.

bubbles in the bottle by the battery in not always indicative of head gasket failure. mine has been doing this since i have had it. when the water leaves the header tank and passes into this bottle by the battery it is no longer under pressure and therefore it boils much easier.

what is the best way to test for h/g failure then strange i loose no water until i give the car a bit of boost, but normal off boost driving it never pumps the water out through the overflow. bugging me as i have to drive round like a old man sunday driver atm.car did have top rad hose blow so had to refill water after that was replaced but was filled slowly.

you need to confirm where the water is been lost.
if its flying out the expansion bottle by the battery under boost then this would be head gasket normally..... but your first post says you are lossing water out of the bottom of the radiator and the thermostat housing.
small bubbles in the over flow is ok. flying out under boost is a different story.
