Unhappy MD321t boost levels?

How much boost does your MD321t produce if you disengage the actuator and jam the wastegate open or just allow it to blow open freely?

Reason I ask is because of boost creep issues.

I'm reaching upto 1.35 bar at around 6k revs! Should I expect to find higher than a standard blowers 0.9/1.0 bar?

I currently have a twin dump style downpipe, would an openmouth style help reduce this creep?

Cheers for any info.
Dave.

Talk to Mark @ Lateral, he's more than likely to know the best approach.

Downpipe is the problem. Twin dump are bad for creep, as the wastegate flapper opens it more or less blocks the dump tube.

Have you tried running more boost yet?
Seen one do the same until a bit of boost put through it and then it was flat boost with a flat duty.
Agree with Paul that the twin dump down pipe is not ideal

Will be changing exhaust this week for a 3" Cobra system with an open neck DP.

Will then see what boost I make when disengaging my actuator control arm/jamming open wastgate.

Or should I just leave the control arm connected and plumb the actuator directly to the compressor to see if it stops at 1.2 bar/ish?

Simon will your services be available at TOTB this Sunday as I remember you sorted out Neil's (vulnax) when he was in a flap the other year when the Noise Police claimed his exhaust was a wee bit loud.

Thanks for all your advice fella's

Dave.

plumb compressor cover to actuator.. cobra is not necessarily a good move for your power goals............

I am still trying to work out why you would want 1.2bar to redline.. occasionally you may see creap on it trying to hold that low an amount of boost to the redline but once at 1.4 for example it should be flat and no creap etc..

I am at TOTB and possibly but not during as my priority will be the team.. but I will be about after etc

I'm after a bit more boost than that Simon.

Steve Simpson tried mapped my car a couple of months back but left my Apexi AVCR plumbed in to control the boost even though I originally requested that the Simtek performed this.

Anyway the map was done, although I had a problem with my Turbo inlet pipe between the turbo and APS metal intake pipe causing an obstruction due to the alignment of the two parts and the fact that APS supply you with a ridiculously short silcon hose/piece to marry them up. (it ran 1.5bar boost to produce 427/420)

I have since resolved this air intake issue by having my up-pipe adapted to eleviate the allignment issue, but upon returning to Steve, he failed to have any ability to control my boost once he disconnected the AVCR (but
retained the Apexi boost solenoid) and utilised the Simtek to control boost. (is the Apexi solenoid compatible with this ECU or is it specific to the AVCR?)
He questioned whether I had change my exhaust or any other parts, but all I have done is solve my breathing problem.

So once he queried my exhaust I could only assume (due to lack of tech know how) that since I now had the ability to take in a lot more air, maybe I was struggling to get rid of it when it was'nt needed.

I'll probably just toodle up to TOTB in my wifes galaxy and come say hello. (book you in/you book me in)

Thanks.

I see..

no the simtek is able to use the avcr boost solenoid with no issue..

it could well be then that now it is flowing the air it is now creaping due to the exhaust.

I wouldn't want to unnecessarily take one of Steve's customers..

My t holds 0.8bar on map a & 1.6 on map b. No creep at all. I have 2.5" agency power(same as aps) turbo intake fitted. Ecutek with 3 port solenoid controlling boost.
