Default puff of blue smoke on start up

any ideas ?

JDM sti 2.0 MY05 - all well, then
upgrade hybrid turbo, bigger injectors, front mount
now for some reason get a puff of blue smoke on cold start
nothing after that whether under hard acceleration or de-cceleration
engine has done just under 30K

I am struggling?

If valve seals, why after only such a small mileage, and why not evident before new turbo etc? It must be somethng to do with the chantges I guess but what? turbo seal?

Cheers

Bypass engine breathers get some hose feed both sides into a plastic container plug inlet holes up then run for a couple of days if smoke still there turbo seal or stem seals, bet it is turbo

At a guess. You mite be getting a slight oil weep thru turbo seals when running engine or slightly higher crankcase pressure now you've upgraded BHP. Its not enough to burn blue whilst driving but when you swith off then re-start a small amount of oil may have built up causing your puff of blue.

If it starts to smoke when driving thats the time to worry. Keep a good eye on your oil level!

Just a thought when your engine is cold where does the oil come uo the dipstick,it should be 3mm below full mark.I read an article a little while ago the similar problem, also what oil are you using full syn 5-30 good make?a big turbo mods more welly will put extra load on engine, run engine gently if poss for a few days then assess

What does it smell like? mine did it worse than that on cold start the day after having a remap and new core in my turbo, it turned out to be a fuelling issue due to poor mapping
Got fed up of it after a while so got someone else to map the car and the smoke has gone

Identified the turbo as the most likely cause, so the Turbo has now come off and gone back to the suppliers so will see what they find - will keep you posted.

My car still occasionally does it. Doesn't use oil, and had different turbos, it could be the oil, I topped mine up a litre with my mates oil!! It wasn't the expensive gear I should be using!
