Default wobbly boost guage needle!

Having only just bought my type -r am not too sure, if this is normal or not. When driving under boost, the needle on my boost guage wobbles from side to side, and I cant be too sure but it seems that its not pulling as rapidly as it did when i first bought her! (could just be that im more used too the speed now). Its just that ive driven other turbocharged cars with guages and have never noticed the needle wobbling on those! any ideas?

Replace your existing T-piece with this one:-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NoBuzz-NO-BUZZ-T-PIECE-BOOST-GAUGE-VACUUM-OIL-TEMP_W0QQitemZ110398576302QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Ca rsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item19b44496ae&_ trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65% 3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

It has a filter in it which dampens the boost pulses, which may help the needle to move smoothly.

I have one of these and the needle is as smooth-as.

Hmm but surely there should be no flutter on the boost guage if the restrictor pill is still present as this will restrict the amount of pressure going the gauge anyway.

Or maybe the original poster is using an aftermarket ECU without the restrictor pill?? Or maybe the restrictor pill has moved hmmm?

i have a cheap (the cheapest i could get actually £12 including pod) boost gauge. When i got the car it was my first mod and the needle was fairly steady, but as i have added a different boost control system upped the boost and now added a decat the wobbbles have increased as the turbo wastegate has a harder time keeping pressure steady. personally if the needle is not vibrating or broken i.e. giving false readings due to some external forces, but is showing you rapid fluctuations in boost level which is fairly normal, then i say dont worry about it, as long as it doesnt spike too high then you are fine. I'd rather see whats actually going on than damp the signal. watching gauges whilst driving (not recomended!) as taught me a lot about how the engine performs which is a good thing. the restrictor pill is is a metal piece in a tube that runs off the turbo, on mine it is marked with yellow paint.
