Default Engine transplant

I am at my wits end with my stupid STi engine in the classic and I think I am going to bin it.
I have been offered a nice WRX standard engine with FSH at a good price. What I was wondering is how hard will it be for me to fit this myself? Is it a case of undoing a couple of things and then plugging them back in?

Is it not a home project job?

Thanks in advance
Tim.

I've started rebuilding my own engine and have found it surprisingly easy.

I just made a note of everything I unplugged so I know where to plug it back in when the engine goes in.

I'm sure the principles are the same wth swapping engines, the only difference being that you would probably need a remap for the WRX one.

At the moment we think that it might be the head gasket but I have no idea what caused it to go.
I think that it will be best to just drop another lump in there rather than keep trying to fix the old one.
Most of its good, turbo, intercooler etc.

Stop being Lazy Tim and sort the Sti engine that you dont even know was fried, still think the steam could have just been the rocker box gasket and smoke

You could be right, I am just getting so impatient with it, I need to get one of those mobile diagnostic people over to have a poke around.
I was with Raj yesterday and he told me of a sweet engine going cheap so I thought it might be worth just getting a new one put in.
