Default Think i'm being shafted by my gear box

I have a Blob eye and damn sure my gearbox bearings are shot so made the dreaded phone call to subaru about changing it to which i nearly fell over!!!

They quoted me 3 hours labour to take the box out at £90 per hour and the same to reinstall. So 6 hours at £90 and 2 hours to strip it and and the same to put it back together.. So 10 hours labour at £90 and what ever the parts are so i'm looking at a minimum of £1000 really.. Does any one know how long it takes and if i'm being shafted or more to the point where near gloucestershire i can get my gearbox sorted.. thank you

No specialist tools needed?? But sounds pretty easy. I'm pretty good with a spanner but never done it before so not very sure i think my brother may come in handy. lol thank you very much i will take note and go for it all i need now is the the model number which is on the bell housing isn't it?

just add some more...front drive shafts out of side of box so bottom ball joint nuts need cracking of and wheels moving out pins removed from iner cv joints carefull not to damage any seals...gear link pins out, oil drained, and then realese bearing needs unclipping from clutch plate wen box is off and clutch forlk/bearing assembly needs to be on the box before installing it back on the engine...i didnt know this wen i did mine and bloody stuggled to get fork in to the puller release bearing
best thing i did was get a cd rom disk off e bay for 3 quid tells alot of things
