TMIC
i'm thinking about upgrading the TMIC on my 2001 WRX, there are a couple of options the STI or a third party upgrade for example Subaru Impreza New Age Top Mount Intercooler --- Japspeed Performance Parts
the japspeed one would require some mods while the STI one should be a straight swap what would be the better option?

It cools down the surface of the IC by a fine spray of water directed onto the IC core (by means of a reservoir bottle, pump, plumbing and jet nozzle). It is controlled in-car by an on-dash manual and/or automatic electric switch, wired to the pump.
The incredibly fast-reacting latent heat absorption/evaporation properties of water means that the intake Air Charge Temp (ACT) can be significantly slashed for short periods, helping prevent det and increasing power at strategic periods during a drive.

unless you've got an uprated turbo, injectors etc then i wouldn't bother touching the top mount, wont make any noticable difference.
if your gonna upgrade the turbo etc then front mount is the way to go.
