my 98 classic's speedo seems to stick most of the time at 55-60 mph, it works once in a ble moon, but is stook on that speed most of the time. i noticed a few days ago it was at 0 when i started engine, then as soon as i started to move it shot up to 55...

what could be causing it?

speedo sensor in the gearbox on its way out more than likely.
mine started bouncing and beng a bit erratic and then just dropped to zero,
cel light came on aswell after it dropped to zero.
garage charged quite a bit over £100 to fix it, but if id known how easy it was would have done it my self.

no lights on dash are on, and its never stuck on 0mph, just 50-60 mph.. i presume it will be electrically operated, not by cable?
