Default oil pressure 3.5 bar idle on prosport stepper gauges

jusr fitted boost prosport stepper gauges,

boost, oil temp and oil pressure

the oil pressure is runfrom the oil switch with the t piece,

the gauge is reading 3.5 idle and maxs guage at 7 bar when reved or driving

any ideas on why this is so high.

im thinking faulty guage or sender unit???

il fit a mechanical gauge straight into original pressure switch to get correct reading.

anyone know of any faults with the senders or guages.

car is a 52 plate bug eye uk wrx.

thanks matt

Those figures could be correct from a cold start. What are pressures when the oil temp is about 90 deg C?

3.5bar idle at warm is fine, 7 sounds a bit high for running temp though

it settles at 3.5 bar when warm but the as soon as u rev engine it shoots to max. checked all connections and wiring all is fine, run it from oil pressure sensor with the t piece.

themseems to work. im thinking possibnly faulty sender,

any ideas. im gonna put a mechanical gauge on tomorro to test.

any had faulty gauage or sender unit.

any way 2 test sender?

My son fitted Prosport gauges in his EVO IX and they were a pain! Replaced a faulty sender and all was well until recently when the oil pressure gauge started flicking between 60 and 80 psi - all the time!
They look good but I prefer my direct reading Mocal gauges - they work!

The PRV in the oil pump should open/regulate the oil pressure at approx 95psi/6.5 Bar,so quite possible the sender unit is faulty.

just put mechanical tester on on it read 5.5 bar cold, which is normal, and settled down just above 1 bar warm.

so seems sender unit is playing up
