Default td05 16g

how good is a td05 16g on a 2.0 newage wrx, as they seem easily available and at least are rebuildable unlike the vf series. also how easy are the top entries to covert to front. how do they compare to td04 with lag. any advice appreciated.

It's relatively easy to convert them to FE (my local subaru specialist do it quite often).
The turbo is good for 320-340ish/1.4-1.5bar but you will need to remap your car.
As for lag comparison i don't know i wouldn't expect too much difference (on my decatted 93 wrx it starts boosting about 3000rpm ish)

Bugeye's run TD04L turbo as standard.

I ran my bugeye WRX with a TD05 16G on de-cat, ported headers, fuel pump, STi injectors and panel filter (Plus EcuTeK remap) at 325 BHP.

Very nice to drive

sounds what I am after, as don't think I will be happy with a remap on TD04, as with ppp won't really get much more. Looks like I need to start collecting a few more bits, never ending this Subaru modding addiction.

was thinking of picking up a used one top entry but would only buy where I could inspect it, then convert to front entry. fit some sti injectors and go for a remap. Already have green panel filter, decat up pipe, ppp down pipe & decat centre, H&S de res centre, ppp backbox and ppp intercooler hose and a walbro fitted. Only want to get about 310-320BHP. Just wondered how a TD05 compares to a vf35 or vf43 on the 2.0 engine.

I'd see if Andy Forrest has one

AndyForrestPerformance

Not that much difference between vf35 and the TD05 16G in the real world.
