Default Maf fault code

Hello,

Need help on the above. I have a 1999 Classic Turbo 2000. I had a new Lambda sensor fitted as failed MOT on emissions. Passed with flying colours after bu then noticed later in the day was getting holding back, hesitation, bit of a funny idle and just thinking the car was not as should be. So i connected the 2 black plugs under the dash and got a fault code flash of 23. I have not driven the car since. Guess the MAF needs to be changed! I have not re-set the ecu. Is a good idea to see if fault re occurs?
Thanks for replies

Well, the symptoms certainly are indicative of a knackered MAF.

Using a multimeter, try measuring it's output voltages through the rev range from idle to max revs. Idle should be about 1V and max revs should be about 5V (or it might be vice versa for the late MAFs lol), with the intermediate rev range voltages proportionally between these 2 values. if the voltages are nowhere near these values, then knackered MAF

Good news is that the late MY99/00 cassette type MAFS are only about £80 brand new (unlike the pre-99 ones, at c.£260!).
