Default will be making up a forged 2.0 or 2.5 for my classic, advise needed

hi,i have a early classic which runs a sti 8 bottom end(closed deck block)and all surporting mods and mapped by jgm, runs around 350 bhp,i am very happy with it but have deceied to build up a second engine in my spare time, cant decide if to build up a 2ltr or 2.5,i have just brought a set of sti v2 heads and cams which have been fully refurbished and shimmed up from a member on here, things i wanted to know are,are all 2.5 blocks open deck,or is it easyer to buy a 2ltr closed block and bore it out, also what crank to use??
cheers

As far as I am aware some 2.5 blocks are Semi Closed deck.

2.0 Closed deck Block would be stronger but the 2.5 block would produce more torque so the choice is yours depending on what your building the car for.

Your STI8 bottom end is good for 400bhp+ so you need to think what you are building the car for as you may not even need to change the bottom end unless your going for Big BHP!!!

just was looking to build up a second complete engine that i could just swap straight over if the time was to arrive,i surpose a 2ltr can be bored out to what they call a 2.2 or 2.3??depending on the pistons used, just trying to get as much info up together, like what crank to use etc before i make my choice,
