Boost creep with downpipe on a classic?
if I fit a decat downpipe on my 98 WR classic (so has a prodrive ECU), am I likely to get boost creep due to already having the 3'' Prodrive exhaust system?
I ask as used to get it on my MR2 turbo, but that had cannon size exhausts, but basically exhaust system was more efficient than the wastegate could handle.
Cheers

Not sure it is so much of an issue on the scoobs, it is a big problem on my evo, the only way to completly do away with it is to weld up the internal wastegate and move to an external. Apparently there are some companies that will provide a porting service, but not worth it given the cost.
I never noticed a problem when i removed all cats and changed to a 3" system on my classic.

You mean the 2.5 inch prodrive system and you wont get boost creep, just det
PPP'd cars dont like being decatted tbh, you will gain about 10bhp from the dp but you will need to control the boost as it will rise due to the better flow.

Standard ecu's are totally different to PPP ecu's as these have been set up to a more stringent map. If you decat any PPP'd car it will det, simple as that, in the same way you decat a pre mapped car, you would need it mapping again to compensate for the increase in boost.

Thanks Tony- I need to make a decision on whether to look at an aftermarket ecu or not then.
I had a feeling the prodrive ecu was working at close to safe limits as I guess it increases power by 15% over stock, and the injectors are still pretty small.
Am I going to have similar issues with a slightly bigger tmic?
I have asked for a price for a mapped ecu as well.
