Default What lube is best for Rear dampers?

Not for the scooby but my dads 1995 bmw 316i has a very annoyiong squeek from the passenger rear strut area and im almost certain its the damper itself. Before spending money on a new set of dampers i thought it would be worth lifting the sleeve and applying some sort of lube in there ... any ideas what the best one to use for this application would be??

Cheers

Defo not wd40 which is just a water dispersant anyway. Anything that bills itself as a rubber grease should do you as that is what you are trying to protect.
