hot engine cool radiator
Hi hoping someone can help i have a impreza 97 uk 2000 turbo
I got back from a drive today popped the bonnet and noticed the top left radiator pipe was very hot and the one from the turbo was very hot and the inlet manifold was very hot but the radiator and bottom right radiator hose were really cool, is this right? or could there be a problem, or is it cause ive had lots of problems im now looking for them
any advice would be great thanks

mine does this mate, i too was looking last night. my top hose is red hot, my bottom hose warm/hot, the rad face is cool. I think its normal.
The bottom hose is bound to be cooler as this is where the water leaves the rad after its been cooled. if it was as hot as the top the rad would not be doing its job.

PJF,
Mine is exactly the same, it doesn't matter how long i've been driving for,
The top hose is hot, the temp gauge sits at half way, the fans cut in as you'd expect.....but the bottom hose is always cold.
I am a bit puzzled also

Just ran the car to make sure the fan kicked in, which it did (after a long 15 mins) and the radiator and bottom left radiator pipe were all warm so i guess its all working fine
i must say i had no idea how hot the inlet manifold got, im thinking that throttle body coolant bypass in the technical forum is a very good idea
Thanks all for the quick replys they've put my mind at ease

My bottom hose was cold/cool earlier after i drove it, i think it was only warm 30 mins ago cause i left the car running for 15 mins i think if i drove it and then checked, it would be cool
