could be your leaking oil into the turbo thats then been blown out the exhaust.

mine was using that much, and I could not see any leaks -- i.e. no oil slick on the drive etc ) althought slight smoking up thru the bonnet when stopped after a hard run

but I think it has been leaking from the camshaft oil seals, which I have just had changed so we shall see

I have had a new block fitted and all gaskets and seals were renewed after bottom end failed.

I was thinking maybe the turbo was on its way out but i dont really have any blue smoke that would show this.

i think for that amount of oil to be lost thru the turbo/exhaust you would be leaving a pretty big plume of smoke behind you

but then I could'nt see where my oil was being lost coz I it didnt seem to drip on the road when left standing so what do I know -- aprt from the fact that every 300/400 miles I was adding oil to bring it back to the full mark on the dipstick!!

Had the car out today, there was no smoke on cold start up,
car sat for about 30mins or so after a run, started it and there was a quick puff of smoke,
dont get any smoke on normal driving, soon as the boost kicks in get a fair amount of black/brown smoke,
My other half was behind me at the time and told me that the smoke smelled of oil,
