Default boot opening mechanism not working

Hi all

Probably a simple solution, but my boot opening mechanism suddenly decided not to work. The key works but the cable operated cabin lever doesn’t, I pull it up and nothing happens. This only stopped working a couple of minutes ago. No noises heard or funny feeling from the mechanism. I haven’t looked at it but I presume that the cable may be caught somewhere.

Any ideas?

The car is a Hawkeye sti.

Cheers
