mot steering rack gaiter?

mark the track rod end, un-lock locking nut unsrew the track rod end counting the turns cut old boot off. fit new fit back to gether the same amout of turns and so marks aline.

Fairly easy to change, Remove track rod end and locking nut from the damaged side, Id be inclined to mark it with some tipex or similar so you know exactly where it was adjusted to. cut the existing straps that seal the gaitor and remove it(just slides off) slide new one on and fit ties. Replace track rod end. all done.

I had to do this recently for Mot, and we had a nightmare...
We couldnt get the track rod end off, so we had to slide the gaiter over it. To do this we had to soak it in boiling water so it would give, and actually fit over the track rod end. Bloody nightmare and took us a good couple of hours, and we had every tool imaginable available to us. Hope you dont find the same mate!
