Feed the hose through the bulkhead (suing a protective rubber grommet around the bulkhead hole)... then the hose pushes onto a spare nipple on the inlet manifold.
If no spare nipple, then tee into an existing vac line coming off the inlet manifold. Best to tee into the vac line (using a 3-way T-piece) for the dump valve, and NOT the BCS system...

tee into the small pipe on the dump valve or you may find a blanked off unused nipple in the middle at the front of the inlet manifold with a small rubber cover on it. Remove the cover and put your pipe on there

i see what you mean about the three nipples on the inlet manifold, but they are all in use. a friend said use the middle one? but wanted a second opinion first really.
also is there anywhere closer than the cig lighter to run the power from as its a a pillar mounted boost gauge. thanks

- Any spare one of the 3 will do - doesn't have to be the middle one! You'll know if one's free, as there'll be no pipe comomg off it and, as mentioned, therefore should be blanked off with a little rubber cap.
- Well, you coiuld remove the steering column cowling and splice the power into the sidelights lights wiring or direct to the ignition wiring

Actually in the driver's footwell, attached to the side is the interior electrics fuse box (by the accelerator). You could solder the gauge's illumination power lead to a suitable fuse holder e.g. the "cigar lighter's illumination", as you said (don't know which one this is though?). It'll then be a very short run of wire from the base of the B-pillar.
I know that the "stereo/centre console instument power" (comes on with ignition "ACC ON") is the fuse holder in the very bottom row, 2nd 15A blue fuse in from bulkhead end.
