Default how do i fix a code 33 (vehicle speed sensor) fault code

ok i have a 94 wrx i bought it with a duff engine

ive fitted a new recon engine only to find i had a duff g/box too.

i fitted a my98 uk box with a new exedy clutch/diff/driveshafts
(which for sum reason gives a judder an some wierd noises when i first pull off??? any ideas also)

but on my first proper run it sounded like sumut come off the car an bounced down the road and as it did the cel light came on and it wont rev over 4.5k
done a read and it comes back code 33
tryed doing a reset but the code stays.

also the speedo aint workin at the mo cos the speedo on the car is manual and the g/box has a elec plug, (is there an adaptor plug available?)

the car has fast flow headers a td05 turbo and a full de-cat exhaust this shouldnt effect the vss though should it?

Speedo not working is your problem as this causes the ecu to go into 'Limp Home' mode limiting you to 4500rpm and about 0.5bar boost.

bugger is there a way of fooling it or a convertor from a square drive in the g/box to a flat drive in the cable ??the plug screws into the box but they dont connect up

If the gearbox sends an electric speedo signal, i'd try fitting a set of clocks from a newer classic that recieves an electric signal. I can't see you getting much joy otherwise Gar. Plus the clocks are a doddle to change, so thats the route i'd take. You'll have to get the electric speedo cable itself too.
