Default VF35 turbo on a STi 6?

Thinking of doing some performance changes to my STi version 6, Ive got a wedding to pay for soon, so I cant really afford to go to crazy with the mods as money is tight.

Now I was thinking of putting a VF35 turbo on reason being is that I love the spool up of my standard VF29 turbo, now I could go the full hog and get a TD05 20g but I dont want to ruin the drive of the car, and most important I cant really afford the other supporting mods such as bigger injectors, stronger clutch etc, and the strain on the gearbox or engine. Has anyone put a VF35 on there STi 6, how do you find it??? and what other mods do you have fitted.

Also I really wanted to keep my standard 440cc injectors, would this be possible or would I need the bigger 550cc injectors. Not really into bhp figures just want a very nice quick road car with out spending stupid amounts of money!!!!

Does the sti 6 not have a vf28? Stick the VF35 on, get an adjustable fpr to the turn the fuel pressure up and with a remap you should see around 340bhp.

or vf34, front mount, remap

optional, aftermarket ecu (solaris my choice but you'll get ten different answeres on that one lol)

not required, FPR, uprated injectors (although they may run out of squirt, so might need 550's, i run 340bhp on a vf34 on a uk turbo with no fueling issues)

Simtek would be ideal, but talking nearly 1k fully mapped and extra for anti lag etc, but could always sell for 500-600quid when I come to sell the car, and puit standard ecu on!!!

Was also thinking ecutek, but it keeps the dreaded MAF sensor but costs half the price of the simtek, but crap re-sale as it the standard ecu, so not going to get any money back if I sold it!!!

hard choice!!!!!

Would love a Apexi Power FC and controller, but Ive never seen them for the 99/00 impreza's, only the 96-98 impreza'a!!

You're not looking hard enough

Apexi Power FC ECU Subaru Impreza 98-00 WRX/STI/UK on eBay, also Injection Fuel Systems, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Apr-09 19:43:40 BST)

Apexi Power FC ECU Subaru Impreza 98-00 WRX/STI/UK on eBay, also Injection Fuel Systems, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 16-May-09 19:28:07 BST)

Ultimately once you factor in mapping, it is not far off the cost of a simtek, food for thought.

Ecutek is not the optimal solution for a classic, particularly a 99/00 IMHO, as you really need to accompany it with a boost controller like Apexi AVC-R for the best results for 2 reasons:

a) To get in gear boost compensation (Believe me, you want this!)
b) To get over that bloody irritating emissions related boost cut that can't be mapped out of the std OEM ECU!!!

By the time you've purchased that in addition to the map, you could have got the Simtek!

Additionally: the maf on the 99/00 is notoriously weak too and can cost you an engine, so an alternative ECU should ideally be mafless!

Just gone to Simtek myself from Apexi AVCR and Ecutek on my MY99. Initial impressions are that the simtek is hands down better!
