Default Fuel Pump Not Priming

Hi chaps, been a while I know.
Recently found a problem with the scoob. It's stopped starting.

I've had no known issues and it did drive superbly. But upon parking the car for a few hours and then trying to start it again it failed.
However It did manage to start after I fiddled with something under the dash, but I think this was just coincidence

Anyhow, I parked up and the same happens.
I'm getting no sound from the fuel pump, so I'm guessing the problem is related to this, be it fuses, relays or damaged cabling?

Any thoughts guys? It's a 94 Type RA

Thanks in advance

it will be a relay plug that has come lose if you fiddled with it and got it working

I have a similar problem, when the sun has been on the car, then sometimes the fuel pump won't prime the system. If I open the windows a couple of minutes later it works ok.. I think it might be a fault with my Aquiliar Cat 1 alarm immobiliser, or the fuel pump relay?

Oh well, played around as much as possible still no go.
Had it picked up today so the pros can have a go.

Fingers crossed, it's been so good to me the past few years with just a gearbox rebuild needed.

Iam to certain extent too

mine worked fine for 200km no probs

then it died

then sporadically would run fine

put old standard pump back in and car runs 100%

obviously down to extra draw of uprated pump

ive found relay and ordered a new one in case its on its way out and uprated pump is highlighting its weakness

good idea to check plug on top of tank cover and th plug which is under rear seat for corrosion and/or scorch

apparently that is common

in my case they are fine so iam waiting for relay to hopefully solve it

Worth checking the fuel pump fuse under the steering wheel and the OE relay connections (passenger footwell iirc) etc. Also check your connection at the fuel tank lid.

If you have a problem with your alarm & fuel pump, these are usually connected for immobilisation purposes, so worth checking the alarm installation.

If running an uprated pump sometimes the extra draw can cause problems with the OE wiring but Walbros are usually fine. If everything is ok with your OE pump but not your uprated then might be worth running a new relay/uprated feed from battery etc.

Its doing my head in

cant understand why it was ok for 200kms??

and then intermittent

sometimes it will prime and then sometimes not

need to sort it asap

could a bad connection where new pump is joined to loom cause it??

bad soldered joint?

Got the car back yesterday guys, it was the plug under the rear seat.
It had a loose connection as it was scorched.

Good to know it was only a simple thing, but a kick in the nuts that it's always the simple things I seem to miss.

Hope the rest of you get your sorted. All the best
