wrong turbo!?!?
Hi, i have got a V4 sti which im replacing the engne due to previous one burning on me! i've had some help from someone experienced with the imprezas and he has told me i have the wrong turbo fitted, its a td04 from a uk spec car i've been told. What is the correct turbo for my car? Do i just modify parts of my existing unit or replace it, or even what would be the quickest spooling unit while maintaning a 300 - 330 bhp boost? any help would be greatly appriciated, thanks. J
P.S. The original unit would be my prefered option as im notin a possition to upgrade my ecu, but light mapping is an option. thanks again. J

The TD04 will typically do 280 bhp and the VF24 is probably good for 330 bhp plus.
The turbo is stamped on the front compressor cover VF 24 or TD##04## so there will be no question as to what turbo it is.
If you have an STi 4 then the ECU is mapped to run a VF24, not something that will run 50 bhp less.
First check what turbo you have and if you do not have a VF 24 think about getting one in good condition. These typically sell for £200 or thereabouts.
