bhp/tourque expected figures?
hi everyone,i have a 99 uk turbo wagon,i put a ninja sports cat on,magnex mid section and h&s backbox with an sti/p1 top mount,i went and had an ecutek remap and only produced 238/281,i was happy with the tourque output but dissapointed in the bhp,i later come to find that during the time it was mapped i had a faulty knock sensor, and the plugs were due, since this i replaced the plugs with denso ik22 iridiums, new knock sensor and new maf, would this have affected the bhp output?anyway in the next 2-4 weeks its going back in to have a walbro pump,vf35 turbo, lightweight flywheel and new clutch fitted, and then a map tweek,
(im keeping the standard 440 injectors and not going front mount),what sort of figures should i be expecting roughly? thanks in advance!

perhaps my td04 is very tired? car has had a new bottom end and is in overall very good condition,i believe that wagons tend to make a bit less power? my engine is in great shape, what should i expect?will the vf35 gain me approx 60 bhp?
I went from a mapped TD04 to a VF35 (only other change was 550cc inj and ported oe headers) TD04 topped out at 270 the VF35 333, both on PS rollers. So yes you can make 60odd, with the right mods..!
Something to think about, you WILL notice after having the VF35 fitted/mapped the response will feel ****e. Even though the 35 is a very fast spooling turbo it's no match for the titchy TD04. You will therefore feel like you need to press the accelerator a lot more for any give amount of acceleration. You will soon get used to it and then appreciate the much better mid to top end grunt the 35 provides.
Don't forget the VF35 needs some waste gate porting to prevent boost creep/surge..!
One other thing, have you considered a TD04 hybrid..?

With your mods/existing hardware, etc, then it's the TMIC that is prob the limiting factor but you still should get 300-310bhp, possibly 320 (the 440's are prob good for 330 and the turbo should do 330-340).
One thing I would change are your spark plugs LOL. I'd replace them with non-Iridium NGK PFR7B, personally...

and a faulty knock sensor.would i be correct in thinking this?
Well, something must have been up to get only 230-odd bhp. As stated, you should have got about 270-280bhp. Do you reckon your sportscat is strangling power a bit? Is it a 100-cell one, or the more restrictive 200-cell type?
But your hypothesis about the turbo is a good one I think. If it was tired then it prob wouldn't be very keen as it approached the redline, hence the low bhp - but could still make the peak torque at about 5k or less, hence your 'normal' obtained lb ft figure...

Yes me too - can't wait to get new parts fitted and remapped
When I had my first remap the drive home compared to drive there was much better!! Not just because of 43 more horses top end - there was a lot more bhp & torque right across the rev range.

yeah same here,i gained 70 lbft last time, and 35 bhp, will the vf35 give me any more torque?
