boost control - ecb or standard ecu? which better?
Hi,
I have some doubts about what is actually better to go - standard my99/00 ecu with 3port boost solenoid or aftermarket electronic boost control with its solenoid...
What are pros and cons for both?
How good is boost control in standard my99/00 Unisia Jecs ecu - which seems to be not as sophisticated as new age Denso ecus... ? What about overboost risk which we can reduce with most (all?) ebc's?
And what if we give all boost control to ebc? I understand ecu has completely no control over the boost then, so what in case of need of boost reduction?
Is the only solution a reasonable driver knowing when to select which boost then?
Anyway I believe ebc might be better to keep boost on higher revs? Anyway as long as turbo physically can do that?
Anyway in general - what are advantages and disadvantages of both ways, please? I think it's the question mainly for mappers... they know this stuff the best...

I'd say an AVC-R is better than the ECU as it allows you to do gear based boosting. the inbuilt boost control is good but it won't hit you boost targets in lower gears AFAIK
