Engine management light.

Engine management light.
Since buying my bug eye two weeks ago the engine management light is displayed on the dash.
After plugging the diagnostics machine in today it revealed these two faults.
1, Bank 1 cam cover sensor. Err code: p0340
2, Bank 1 emissions sensor. Err code: p0420
Has anyone ever had these problems with there scoob?
The exhaust if fully de-cated so i may need a new lambda sensor.
Any info on this guys will be greatly appreciated please.

Hi, it is very rare that 2 problems will occur together. Clear fault codes, then run car until light comes on again, get plugged in as soon as possible without touching/adjusting anything and read codes again. Sometimes a fault can have been sorted by previous owner but not cleared fault codes. I have just had the same happen, got 3 codes, 1.Crank Sensor/2. Massair meter/3. Air intake too high. After clearing then running, just got 1 back on with engine light which is Cam Sensor, bank 1. Car was hesitating under acceleration and would idle funny after a highspeed run. Mine is coming from Subaru, £140. Dont be tempted by cheaper Ebay parts as they are often inferior and will fail again. Hope this helps you, Mark.

Hi mark thanks for your reply buddy.
We cleared the error codes after diagnosing them earlier. approx 15 mile after leaving the garage the engine management light illuminated again.
At about 8.30 this evening i went out for a drive. on the drive the car started to overfuel bigtime, popping and banging and generally trying to die. i stopped at traffic lights and the revs just dropped straight to 0 and the engine stalled.
it was very hesitant starting back up and would only start with the accelerator pedal fully pressed down.
After 5 minutes of it overfueling it suddenly cleared and was fine again altho the light is still illuminated.
Your cam sensor fault is mostly likly to be the same as mine. can you remember the error code?

Hi, my fault was also 340 Cam position sensor and is located at front right side of engine next to battery, easy fix if you can swallow the ridiculous price for such a small part. Come to think of it when idling downhill without accelerating, mine started to pop from the exhaust which sounds like overfuelling.

Hi markybrisca thanks for taking the time to reply.
Yeah thats the badger mate, the one on the front right side of engine.
I'll take a big deep brathe before you tell me the price lol.
Yeah mine also slightly pops from the exhaust when idling downhill without the accelerator. I think this is just due to slight extra bit of unburnt fuel entering the exhaust system. im not so sure it has any think to do with overfueling. im not a mechanic tho mate so could be well wrong.
Did you experience any problems with your car while the engine manage light was on? and also did it bring up any other sensor faults such as my emission 1?
And by replacing the sensor did it fix the car and stop the light from displaying?
Thanks buddy

£89 from Jap Import Car Parts:-

Also shown below it are the other two major sensors that can fail leading to rough/no running. Namely, the crankshaft sensor and coolant temp. sensor.
