Apexi power fc base map

Hi I have just got a second hand apexi power fc for my 94wrx. I am obviously going to get it mapped by a professional. In the mean time is it safe for me to connect it and restore factory settings and then run the base map??

Yes should be ok but I would not drive the car on boost till you get it mapped
