Default my engine management light has come on

hi everbody
i am new to this site and only bought my first scooby last nite ,
ita a 95 sti , when driving it home last nite everything was running smooth and very fast but a few miles from my house the CHECK ENGINE light came on and the car also wouldnt go above 4000rpm , have i broken it ? , as i know nothing about these engines could someone please help .

run a check on the ecu. Search on google how to do it(real easy). It will tell you what to check or replace and how to reset the ECU. It takes minutes.

how to check the fault codes is hear and it also tells you what the codes mean JollyGreenMonster.co.uk hope this helps

weird i brought my first impreza 95 wrx, drove it home n on the way the check engine light came on aswell. i did the ecu check but i didnt really help me, but mine ended up being a sensor which had clogged up with carbon, sorry but i cant remember what sensor it was.it was just a matter of taking it off and cleaning it though, API kindly done this for me.

thanx for the advice i did the check and it turns out the airflow meter is playing up and the throttle position sensor is also knackered , do you know of a good parts company i can sorce these from ?

been running it on normal 95 octane , the same as the bloke befor me

Try cleaning the AFM with some carb cleaner and running optimax mate
My turbo ran like a bag of **** on 95, sweet as a nut with optimax
