Default Problems with my 93' wrx wagon

Hi guys im hoping somebody can help. I got my wagon last week, drives pretty good but it wont rev above 4k, car splutters almost cutting out like it has a limiter or something , could it be the maf sensor or the plugs maybe?
Anyone had a similar problem or know what this is please chime in.

Thanks
Pat.

hitting boost cut??? will it rev higher on light throttle?

It does drive much better on light throttle but still wont go much above 4k

Not sure if speedo is broken or not, its still working in terms of rev counter, mph and odometer etc..

Hope this is an easy fix, just got the car and its making me wanna sell it already lol

if the ecu has no speed input it will do the same..

is the engine management light on?

you can read the error codes and reset the ecu (worth trying).. the method to do this I have in the help pages on my website here

Ok fair enough..
Engine check light was coming on but this was due to the speedo being unplugged when i got the car back from having a clutch done. Once we plugged it back in the light went out.

Ill check your website now and give the info to my mechanic.

Any other info is massively appreciated.

that's the issue then... ecu needs resetting.. you could just disconnect battery for an hour or so and it should reset the stored error code will then be cleared and your problem should be gone
