Default Car cutting out

Hi
I was just wondering if anyone could give me any idea's on my car problem
I own a MY96 impreza uk turbo and up until yesterday I had a blitz vta dump valve on. I decided I didnt want it anymore so replaced it with the original dump valve and now when I pull up to a stop in the car the engine cuts out.
It starts up straight away but I thought it would run better with the standard dump valve.
I have little knowledge on these cars but ive unplugged the maf and the engine cuts out which means the maf should be ok?
Im pretty sure there are no splits in the connecting pipes and ive increased the idle a little to see if it helps but revs drop right down again and cuts out or very nearly does.
It idles ok but cuts out when car has come to a stand still.
Sorry for the lengthy question but any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Have you tried running it without a DV?
Many ppl do this with no problems afaik
maybe worth a shot.

I havent tried running without a dump valve, dont know wether i would trust it.
My standard dump valve was stored in garage for 2 years, can you clean them incase it had got some gunk in it?
Its the only thing I can think of, as it used to work perfectly the last time it was on car and I dont really want to stick the vta dump valve back on

I take it you spray the wd40 from the air filter side of dump valve and just disconnect that pipe when you spray it?
Im assuming you dont want to spray it the other way towards the direction of the maf?

I sprayed the dump valve with wd40 and after 10 stops the engine cut out once, rest of the time the revs drop down very low with the odd time the engine being perfect.
Im stumped :-(

Its still the same
This is another weird thing, I tried resetting the ecu which ive done a few times before but it just wont seem to reset. I was driving for 3 10 minute intervals and the flashing check engine light didnt appear at all :-(

Im recieving another used dump valve in the week, which im hoping might solve the problem

Hi mate.

Did you manage to fix the problem as my car has just started to do the same thing. The revs just hit zero and it cuts out. Very annoying and a little dangerous when trying to cruise slowly and changing gear.

No, that doesn't follow at all, and before anyone else tries it, this "Unplug MAF and see if the engine stalls" "test" is b*ll*cks, doesn't prove anything.

From what you've said so far cobraman, the likeliest culprit for your symptoms is a knackered airflow sensor.
