Engine warning light
Can anyone tell me if the engine warning light will come on if I fit a sports cat downpipe, and remove the second cat altogether on my 2006 Hawkeye WRX. I understand that the threshold can be raised to eliminate the light coming on via a re-map, but I was going to fit the exhaust first then get the remap done later. Will this affect the light, and will it have any adverse effects on the engine?
Mine came on twice after I had did this, nothing to worry about - it was just a cat below efficiency error.
I ran the car for 4 months with just the sports cat fitted before remapping, no other ill effects at all. Car spooled up/accelerated a lot quicker too.

mine comes on because the gasses are flowing too fast past the sensor that should be restricted by the cat, but puts my car into a limp mode, thus being half the power wen the cel light is on, which isnt fun!
apparently u can get a mill eliminator that will 'trick' the sensor, other option is put the cat back on or a re- map

Thanks guys. I fitted the downpipe and de cat pipe, and the CEL came on during the drive home, but went out again the next day. When I had the remap done, the only code in the ECU was an over boost fault, so guess that the extra flow created from the new exhaust had got things excited during my spirited drive home!! Now the remap is done, the car is transformed, and is a lot more lively.
