Unhappy DCCD ECU fault code reset

Got a mate with a 06STi. When fitting an aftermarket steering wheel we made a mistake with the roll connector/steering wheel position sensor (2 1/4 turns anticlock instead of 3 1/4 turns). We havn't broken it and have since repositioned it to the correct 3 1/4 turn position.

Problem is that this has thrown the DCCD ECU into bottom green light flashing fault/limp mode. We can read the DTC codes (29 steering angle sensor and 33 Brake circuit ?) but can't find a way to clear them to get it all working again. Is the Subaru Select Monitor the only way to do this or is there something we've missed.

How are you reading them at the moment? A cable and laptop with software such as scantool, Digimoto etc. can reset codes.

Just reading the codes with the built in diagnostic bottom indicator light. There's a procedure in the 2006 workshop manual for calling these up and counting the long and short flashes of the light. Mate is a computer buff so I'll suggest he has a look at your suggested software. Thanks.

Have you guys solved the problem? I'm curious now, is it absolutely necessary to reset the roll connector everytime the steering wheel comes off? There are posts showing step by step ways to remove an STI steering, but i dont' see 'resetting roll connector' being mentioned at all.

What if the roll connector is not removed? Does it still need resetting?

Brian I have given you a probable answer over on 22B this happened to my hawkeye spec-c as I removed the steering wheel and damaged the clock ribbon, what I didn't know was that the g sensors/steering angle sensor is just under the clock spring in removing the wheel I moved the angle sensor which is very sensitive (i.e. microns) this will throw up the symptoms that you had described on 22B I ended up having to buy a new sensor off peter at prosport its not a cheap part to replace but once fitted cured the DCCD fault.I also spoke at length about this problem with Kev at the clinic who in the past had come across this problem but with the same outcome it could not be repaird had to be replaced.
