Default Late boosting !?

First of all, the cars a 1994 impreza wrx sti import.

I got her back last night and I couldn't be happier. I took it for a nice long drive, about 50 odd miles in all, just to make sure she was running sweet and she was. The only thing I noticed was that it was coming into boost quite last.

It would start boosting at around 5 psi at 3500 RPM but the only time it would reach full boost, approx 14/15 psi was from about 5500 RPM onwards.

Surely that cant be right ?

Doesnt the ECU sort itself out after a couple of miles though.

Drove it to work this morning and its still doing the same, not reaching full boost until after 4k atleast.

This is driving me insane now.

Someone suggested that maybe the actuator needs adjusting ?

resetting ecu will only reset fuel trims.

check tension on actuator.

check all asociated boost hoses for leaks.

try a bleed valve/dawes device on it.

.....a few things for you to try.

Ok will have a look on this coming weekend.

Just a quick one, I started it up this morning to listen to the boost solenoid and on the very slightest rev it'll make a rapid ticking noise, is this supposed to happen ?

Also, you might be aware of this, you wont hit 14/15 psi in first. Does the boost pick up faster in 2nd and 3rd gear while the engine has load?

I never boost it in 1st anyway.

In 2nd and 3rd it'll hit 10 PSI ok'ish but then as soon as it hits 5500 RPM it'll fly up to 15.

I'll monitor it abit better next time I take it for a hard drive.

It's just left hanging free in the bay (doesn't matter).
