How to check if PPP ECU/remap has been done?
Hi
I've just bought an '06 WRX SL wgaon for my wife, and I'm trying to work out if it's had a PPP or similar remap done?
It's got a Pro-drive branded exhaust on that sounds 'warm' but not loud (perhaps sports cat)? It's also got pro-drive blue pipework in the engine bay. There's no invoices for the exhaust/PPP/remap though and the dealer it was purchased through doesn't know either.
The thing is it doesn't feel super torquey like I remember from my MY99 WRX a few years back. Feels swift but theres not any aggressive boost.
Any ideas how to confirm either way? If it hasn't been remapped will a remap on a sports/road legal exhaust still give good gains?
Thanks
Rich

If you check the ECU casing (located in passenger footwell under carpet/kickplate) it should have a 'Prodrive' sticker on. Of course, this also could mean that an unscrupulous seller has plonked the sticker on a std ECU...

I've actually found the PPP fitting certificate deep within the handbook - so it was done at some point.
I also checked the ECU but couldn't find a Prodrive sticker.
I suspect that the last owner swaped out the ECU for the original and sold on the Prodrive ECU on Fleabay. The car feels pretty tame (my mother's 2.5 Forrester feels faster), but then again I've had much quicker cars over the last few years since last driving a PPP WRX.
I'm taking it into Subaru next week for a warranty checkover and they say they'll be able to tell me if it's full PPP straight away from driving it.
